International Teen Life Project
Hey!
My name is April; I’m 13. I go to Joseph H. Kerr School, and my teacher is Mr. Fisher. I live in a small town in Northern Manitoba – some people like to refer to it as “the bush” because it’s so small =P – but I love it! I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, it’s my favourite place in the whole wide world =). Anyways, there’s not much to do here, but everyone seems to make their own fun somehow. During the winter it’s almost always cold! Some people like to go sliding or skidooing/ice fishing, though. The summers, believe it or not, actually do get pretty warm. Almost everyone is out all of the time, mainly at the beach; swimming or playing sports. This is a small town, but it’s always fun here, as long as you’ve got friends to hang out with! =D
So, I guess most of you have heard about this International Teen Life Project. For this blog post, I’m gonna write about some of the major concerns I have. So here goes…
I think one of the major issues is hunger and people living on the streets. People are spending all of their money on expensive clothing, cars, and everything else, yet they don’t spend money on putting a roof on someone’s head, or providing food for them. I don’t think this is fair at all. How would you feel if you barely had any food to live off of, and you had the streets as a home? Exactly. I think people should take more consideration for others and help them out. Hunger and homelessness is something that should leave the planet for good.
Another major concern is global warming. The thing is, it’s our fault that global warming is happening, and do we really want our planet to rot away to nothing? I would hope not. Anyways, there are a lot of simple things that we can do to prevent global warming. So why not go ahead and do it? It’ll save our planet, not to mention billions of lives.
I don’t really know if this would be a problem, or just a thought, but I’m wondering what technology will be like in the future. Like computers and what not. How high-tech is stuff gonna get? Just look at how much iPods have changed over the years. Not to mention laptops and computers, and almost any other technology you can think of. Like I said, I don’t know if this is a problem, but I’m just wondering…
Anyways…I think that’s basically all of my concerns for now & the future. If you have any concerns, please feel free to post a comment.

Hi April, I want you to know that I am also concerned about people being hungry. I know that many people in Ethiopia, Africa, are suffering from hunger. In what way do you think we should help?

hi April, I’m Mayi from Colombia. I read your Introduction and I think it is great!!! I agree with you in all the three issues.About poor people, did you know that some of them get soo desesperate that they start to kill and steal? So poverty is not only making the world more selfish, but also more dangerous. Global warming, everybody knows what is happening to the world and what really bugs me is that nobody does anything! And when you wrote about future technology I also started wondering and I think that it will be a problem, well aren’t weapons part of technology? Think about it.
Your blog is awesome!! Keep up your work :)…

Hi I am Valentina and i study in Colegio Jorge Washington, I am in Mr. Hide’s class. I thought that your global warming topic was really good, I mean, I also think that it is absurd for us to be damaging our own planet with CFC’S and other harmful toxics and gases, which are makin a big hole in the upper part of the ozone layer.Like you, I really think we should do something about it, because if we don’t, we could die of skin cancer or something like that.
I loved yor blog… I like how you write too! visit my blog!
P.S: A bunch of people in my class tried to comment on Kate’s blog(Joey girl), but we couldn’t… please let her know! Thanks!

hey april!
sounds like a great place there, where you live!
i live in Malaysia, and it’s always hot. but where i used to live, it had 4 seasons, and in the winter it snowed. so it’s a big difference
well, to answer your question on the wikispace, “what languages are spoken where you live?” it’s bahasa malay, english, and some chinese languages too. it’s kinda cool, but if youre from north america, it’s hard to understand these people!
i totally agree with you on the hunger and homeless people. there are some spoiled people out there who dont care about anyone but themselves and their “true” friends. i think that they should spend some money on people other than themselves! this enviroment for them is too high class, and even so, they should know that there are people who need food more than they need a new brand name fur lined jacket!
well, hope i get to learn more about you!

Hi April,
My name is Isabella and I am form Mr Hide’s class. I live in Cartegena, a beautiful city. I am also concerned about poverty. If you once come to Cartagena, you would get amazed with all the povery here. Some people sleep in the streets and everywhere, there’s poor people asking for money. All this is very sad, and I hope there’s something that solves it. The worst, is that the mothers put their children to ask for money and then they take out the money thet recollect from them. All this is very sad. Now I need to go, if you want to visit by blog its: isa27.blogspot,com..

Hi April,
My name is Valeria and i’m from Mr. Hide’s class . One of my concerns is global warming. Everyone in the world can give a little help to decrease global warming by, for example using cars only when is really needed, and there are many other ways they can. Here in Colombia we see alot of poverty do to that this country isn’t an industrialized country. Here is very sad that soemtimes you are in you car and you see old people sleeping in a piece of carton on the streets. This country doesn’t have many jobs so there are many people that do not have a job and cannot feed their families. Hey now I need to go. If you want to visit my blog go to: http://11vsm.blogspot.com

Hey April,
I am Sai and I am in Mr.Raisdana’s class. I can’t tell you how similar our ideas are. I like how you said that you wonder “how high-tech things can get.”That’s pretty cool because I was wondering how undeveloped things could have been back then. I am also concerned about poverty and how the social classes are not balanced. Check out my blog:
