Christmas Pep Rally!

Hey =D

Well I’m just sitting here in class, writing this post…we actually just finished discussing the Christmas Pep Rally tomorrow! I am so excited, I love pep rallies =D. I am in the events “Sticky Elves” and “Wrapping Paper Stand.” Kate, Toni, Derek, and Anna are in Sticky Elves, and Elaine, Randy, and Darren are in Wrapping Paper Stand. In Sticky Elves someone gets taped to the wall, and that someone is Kate. Us other ones have to tape her. I was taped last year =P, but Kate is the smallest one in our class this year. In Wrapping Paper Stand, us four have to stand on a piece of wrapping paper for five seconds, then fold it in half, and it just keeps getting smaller and smaller! I’m really excited for it, it looked like a lot of fun last year.

Other events are Bob for Mrs. Clause, Baby Bottle Chug, Christmas Ornament Roll, Boff With Santa, Mrs. Claus’ Beard, Icicle, and two other ones…but I can’t remember the names of them.

In Bob for Mrs. Clause, a Barbie Doll is taken apart and put in a bucket of snow. One person has to dig for the body parts (with mittens on) and the other person has to put her back together.

In Baby Bottle Chug, one person has to sit on the other person’s lap. The person on the other person’s lap gets fed with a bottle by the other person, haha.

Christmas Ornament Roll, it’s an interesting one…a stocking is tied between a person’s legs and they have to keep hitting an ornament to the end of the gym with the stocking! =P

In Boff With Santa, two people stand on a bench turned over, and they fight with these blue pillowy things that we have in the gym. I think that’s what you have to do.

For Mrs. Claus’ Beard, a guy has to put Vaseline all over a girl’s face, and she has a time limit of rolling around on a mat with a bunch of cotton balls on it. Whoever has the most cotton balls on their face, or the biggest “beard,” wins!

In Icicle, a shirt is frozen overnight and the next day, during the Pep Rally, a person has to take it out of the garbage bag that it’s in and put it on! Whoever gets it on the fastest wins. I think it’ll be pretty cold for whoever’s doing it =P.

Today and tomorrow are the last days of school until Christmas! I am really excited for Christmas, it’s my favourite holiday. Only like 4 more days…but if you don’t count Christmas, it would be 3. I cannot wait, wow. Best time of year everrrrrrr =)

Merry Christmas! XD

Monday and Tuesday night!

Heyy!
How’s it going? Pretty good here, just decided to write about last night and the night before!

On Monday night I met Lana at Darren’s house, and then we met up with Darren, Kim, Bri, and Michael. We played outside and then went to Michael’s house when we got cold. We were there, and then Adam came down (Michael’s brother.) He had this staple gun haha, but it wasn’t loaded, thankfully. We were playing these deadly games like Toonies and Rock Paper Scissors I think it’s called, and then Kim had to leave. Then I left at 9, and then everyone else did too. I took so many pictures that night lol…it took forever to upload them onto my site.

Then last night I went to Darren’s house and Michael was there, and then Tiffany and Kelsey came. We went for a walk to Michael’s and had a snow ball fight in his front yard haha, then Darren fell in the snow and he had no boots on, and his sock had a hole in it and I put snow on it =P. Then when he got up he pushed me in the snow lol. Then we went to Sam Place’s AKA the recycling place, and then to Darren’s house, because we begged him hard enough =). We were just playing video games the whole time and listening to tunes. Then we had to leave at 9:00. Tiffany went home, and me and Kelsey went to Michael’s house. Kelsey left at around 9:30 and I left at around 9:45 - 10:00. I went home, straightened my hair because the snow ball fight made it so curly, went on my laptop, and then to bed.

Fun times in life lol…I hope I get to hang out with them again tonight =)

Relationships && Friends

Hey ;)

How’s it going? Pretty good here, just sitting here in the classroom on the computer writing this post…it’s day 6, so we have a computer class. We have to write about this ELA project that we’re doing, so here we go =)

First of all, Mr. Fisher had everyone in the class write ten questions about themselves. Then the next day we all got a copy of the questions and we had to categorize them. Then, we had to pick a certain topic from each category to work on. I chose Relationships, and Friends. So now I’m working on friends.

We had to make a web, and I branched off everything that I could learn about friends. I asked questions and facts and everything else that I could think of. Next we had to write 8 - 10 questions about our topic, resources we could go to to learn about our project, and in no more than three sentences, write about what we want to know. That’s all so far.

Since we have only Thursday and Friday left before Christmas, we, for sure, won’t get this project done until after Christmas break.

So that’s our project…and the end of this post =)

Aprilllllll =D

Pretty much the weekend.

Hey! XD

How’s it going? Good here, just kinda bored! So I decided to write about my weekend (December 15 - 17.)

Friday:

Friday night I had a hair appointment, just a trim, my hair looks basically the same as it always does. Surprisingly it took from 3:30 - 7! Wow! My mom had to get her hair done too though, and I think the hairdresser was a bit behind. So after that I had a late supper of Angelina’s pizza and then went to the youth center. Haha wow, best time ever at the youth center! Have you ever heard of the game ‘quarters?’ If not, it’s when two people sit at either end of a table and fling quarters at each other’s knuckles lol. I played that except with a toonie! I played with Michael T., Kim, and Bri. It was a lot of fun, except now my knuckles hurt like crazy! Then I came home and, as usual, went on my laptop =P.

Saturday:

Basically did nothing all day, except for go on the computer. I babysat from 5:30 - 1, which was tiring. I got paid good though. I came home and went on my laptop for a while, then went to sleep.

Sunday:

Studied for my math test, and I had to clean my bathroom =(. Now I’m sitting here writing this, and if anyone calls later on tonight I’ll probably go out somewhere lol.

Christmas!

Hey!

Wow, Christmas is sooo soon =D! I cannot wait! There’s only 12 more days, as of today! Wow, I love Christmas. Our tree and decorations are all up and there’s presents under there!

In our classroom we’ve been decorating for Christmas. There’s lightbulbs made of construction paper on the windows, a HUGE paper chain that is all around the classroom, and more! And we still have more decorations to make! I love decorating for Christmas. Christmas is my favourite holiday. We are having a potluck too, which I am really excited for, because last year we had one and it worked out really well! I’m thinking of bringing taco salad. What are you bringing? (if you’re in our class =P.)

But guess what?! CHRISTMAS DANCE TOMORROW NIGHT!!! Wow, I am so excited! My mom even bought me a red shirt to wear to the dance, lol. It’s $2.50 to get in if you’re wearing red or green, and $5.00 if you’re not. That’s why I’m planning on wearing red =P. Not that I would mind paying the $5, because I really love the dances that the school has! Apparently there’s gonna be a special visitor there…I wonder who it could be? Maybe Santa =). Haha. There’s gonna be baked goods and everything! It’s from 7 - 10. I am super duper excitedddd!!!! =D

So what did you guys ask for for Christmas? I asked for this clock thinger, that charges your iPod and plays songs from it! I think it’s pretty much the coolest thing ever. I was gonna ask for a PS3, but I’m just gonna save that for my birthday, to see if I still want it then. My mind might change from now and my birthday. They are a lot of money, after all. I also want a bunch of DC clothes, and the CD “Master Of Puppets” by Metallica. I’ve wanted that CD for a long time, lol. That CD, topped with the iPod/clock thinger, and the DC clothes are pretty much the biggest things I want for Christmas. Sure, a few small stuff, but I’d be plently happy if I just got those things, lol. What do you want for Christmas?

I’m just staying in town for Christmas, and no relatives are coming for a visit, and not to be rude or anything, but I like it better that way. I like just having Christmas with my mom and dad and dog. I do love the rest of my family, though. My favourite part about Christmas would have to be like everyone happy and all that love stuff =P. I like receiving presents, but giving them is a gazilllion times better. Agree or disagree with me?

So what’s your guys’ plans for Christmas? What do you like about Christmas? Just leave it all in a comment! Much appreciated =). xx

Upcoming Events

Hey ;)

How’s it going? I’m pretty good lately, just super busy! There’s a lot of stuff coming up and it’s all jumbled up =S…so I thought I’d write what’s coming up on my blog so that I can keep track of it all!

Science Assignment:

In science we have a huge assignment…instead of a test Mr. Fisher is just giving us an assignment worth a lot of marks. Thankfully =P. I hate tests…but anyway, we have to make a mind map (almost done! =D) and then we have some questions coming up as well.

Tests:

We have a math test on Monday (December 18). We also have a home ec test on the same day…thankfully, I finished studying for that tonight.

Other Stuff

Christmas dance on Thursday!!!! I cannot wait! I love the dances that the school has! I’ll write about it after it happens. I also have to babysit on Saturday night…

That’s basically it, I think.

Weekenddd (Dec. 8 - 10)

Hiiiiii :]

How’s it goin? Pretty good here, just sitting here at 10:27 at night writing this post…I decided to write about my weekend. So here goes…

Friday:

Didn’t really do much, just came home, did my homework, then went to the Youth Center. As usual =P. That’s basically all I did on Friday.

Saturday:

Wow! Extremely fun day =D. Haha. I had to stay at Toni’s for the day while my mom was in Thompson and my dad went skidooing or something. I went there around 11:50 (not 11:30…haha Toni =P…inside joke, lol) and we put up the Christmas decorations outside of her house and took down the Halloween ones. It was cold but it was fun. We put up this inflatable Santa Claus and he wouldn’t stand up =P. Haha. Then we put up candy canes that light up around her yard and that was about it. Besides the lights around the house, that is. Then we went for a drive to Home Hardware and then we called Michael W. We went to his house and then we went to the Willow for some food because me and Toni were hungry. Tyler was running behind us HAHA he looked silly just running down the road saying, “WAIT UP GUYS!” or something =P. So he came to the Willow with us and then we went back to Michael’s house to play video games. Before that we had a huge snowball fight, wow it was the best =P. Since water makes my hair curly and they were all putting snow in my face, by the time we got to Michael’s, my hair was in ringlets, it was so curly. It didn’t look that bad, I guess. After Michael’s me and Toni walked to her house and I straightened my hair out. We got ready and went to the movie, “The Wickerman,” at the Community Hall. It was good, but I didn’t really understand it. Oh well. I’ll rent it again to see if I’ll understand it better =P. Then Ashley H. slept over at my house. We had a huge photoshoot, watched the movie “Thirteen,” went on the computer, then went to bed at around 3:00 AM.

Sunday:

Basically just hung out with Ashley, then she went home at around 4:30, and me and my mom put up the Christmas tree =). It looks awesome. I have this mini tree named Douglas Fir, he sings and everything and it’s so awesome. I had him ever since I was really little, though, so his mouth broke today =(. I didn’t even bother to fix it, though, because there was something green melted all over the wires…which probably isn’t safe. So I just turned him around backwards so that you couldn’t see his eyes and mouth, put some lights on him, and now you can’t even tell any different. He even has a Santa Hat =).

Well, that was my weekend. XD

What did you do this weekend?

Recycle, Reduce, Reuse!

Heyyy ;)

Assuming that we have to write two environmental blog posts this week, I decided to do this one on recycling. I’m going to tell you about the three R’s!

First of all, what is recycling?

According to Dictionary.com, recycling is “to pass through a cycle again; repeat a process from the beginning.” Basically, it means to reuse something. For example, you could reuse a Gatorade bottle for a water bottle. That way, you wouldn’t have to throw away the Gatorade bottle and open a new bottle for water.

The Three R’s

What are the three R’s? Recycle, reduce, and reuse, of course. Let’s look at each of them…

Recycle…

Here are some random facts about recycling:

- Recycling 1 ton of paper saves 17 trees and 7,000 gallons of water.

- Recycling one aluminum can saves enough electricity to run a TV for 3 hours.

- Recycling one glass bottle or jar saves enough electricity to light a 100-watt bulb for four hours.

- Recycling one ton of plastic saves the equivalent of 1 000 - 2 000 gallons of gasoline.

- More than 30 million trees are cut down to produce a year’s supply of newspapers.

So basically, recycling means reusing something over. It also means using something over again to make something else. Some common things that are recycled are paper, glass, aluminum, and plastic. Almost everywhere has a place where you can take items like these to be recycled. Make sure you do this! It saves the planet!

Reduce…

What does it mean to reduce? Reduce means to cut back on the amount of things you use. For example, to reduce on using paper, you could write on the back instead of moving to a new piece. What else can you do to reduce?

  • Buy products that don’t have a lot of packaging.
  • Instead of buying something you’re not going to use very often, see if you can borrow it from someone you know.
  • Cars use up energy and cause pollution. Some ways to reduce the environmental damage caused by cars include carpooling with friends, walking, taking the bus, or riding your bike instead of driving.
  • Start a compost bin. Some people set aside a place in their yard where they can dispose of certain food and plant materials. Over time, the materials will break down through a natural process called decomposition. The compost is good for the soil in your yard and means that less garbage will go to the landfill.
  • You can reduce waste by using a computer! Many newspapers and magazines are online now. Instead of buying the paper versions, you can find them on the Internet.
  • Save energy by turning off lights that you are not using.
  • Save water by turning off the faucet while you brush your teeth.
  • Make sure you follow these easy guidelines to reduce in your life!

    Reuse…

What does it mean to reuse? Reuse means to use something over again. Like I mentioned earlier, you could reuse a gatorade bottle for a water bottle instead of opening a new water bottle. What else can you do, though? Here are some quick facts:

  • Bring cloth sacks to the store with you instead of taking home new paper or plastic bags. You can use these sacks again and again. You’ll be saving some trees!
  • Plastic containers and reusable lunch bags are great ways to take your lunch to school without creating waste.
  • Coffee cans, shoe boxes, margarine containers, and other types of containers people throw away can be used to store things or can become fun arts and crafts projects.
  • Don’t throw out clothes, toys, furniture, and other things that you don’t want anymore. Somebody else can probably use them. You can bring them to a center that collects donations, give them to friends, or even have a yard sale.
  • Use all writing paper on both sides.
  • Use silverware and dishes instead of disposable plastic utensils and plates.
  • Store food in reusable plastic containers.
  • Please follow these easy steps to reuse more products!

    Just a few last words…

Recycling is all fine and dandy, and I think that everyone should do it. I’m hoping that those tips I provided on this post help you and other people! If we follow those easy steps, then our planet should be much more healthier and cleaner. If one person can make such a difference by following those easy guidelines, then just imagine what six billion can do!

    Posts Worth Sharing

    Heyyy =D

How are you? I’m pretty good, just sitting here in the computer lab, writing this post! Mr. Fisher gave us an assignment in computer class today; we have to find two interesting posts on the blogs of other people and write about them, and why they are worth sharing.

I found this post on Mr. Hide’s blog. It was about a new Disney movie coming out in February called “Bridge To Terabithia.” Come to think of it, I read this book in grade six! It was one of the best books I’ve ever read. Anyways…back to the post. Why is this one worth sharing? Well, it really stood out to me because of this line:

“From the trailer, I am a little worried that Disney has taken this great story about imagination and friendship and turned it into a special effects extravaganza. Shouldn’t a movie about the power of imagination help to develop imagination?”

To be honest, I didn’t get what he meant at first. I dug a little deeper, and now I understand. Agree or disagree, Walt Disney is all about making movies filled with special effects and creating your imagination. No offense, but if you haven’t noticed, all of his movies are like that. When I read the book, “Bridge To Terabithia,” I automatically knew this movie wasn’t about special effects and everything like that. It was a serious book about love, nothing like what Walt Disney would create. Not trying to dis Walt Disney or anything, but I don’t think he could make a movie of “Bridge To Terabithia” without killing it. =) (Sorry to all you Walt Disney fans out there.)

Mr. Hide had provided a link in this post. To view it, click here.

I really like what Mr. Hide had written: “Shouldn’t a movie about the power of imagination help to develop imagination?” What I’m getting out of this line is that Walt Disney is trying to create your imagination whenever he makes a movie, when movies should be about building your own imagination. I think this is why this post really caught my eye.

To view Mr. Hide’s blog, click here.

This post has no links to videos or anything; yet the meaning in it is something that I think should be noticed. I got this post from the Nata Village blog; click here to read it and comment on it.

Now, read the post so that you get what I’m talking about, k?

Now that Nata Village will have a laptop, they’ll be able to connect to places all over the world like anyone else. Nata Village is a little less fortunate, but they still have a laptop and internet connection.

    Kinda makes you think.

If one place like Nata Village can get a laptop and an internet connection, think about everyone else with a lot of money can do! They can get an internet connection, which means that they can blog as well. Soon enough, everyone will have a blog, and soon enough everyone will be neighbours with each other.

And you can be on the other side of the world and still be neighbours.

    How cool.

This is why this post really stood out to me. To view the Nata Village blog, click here.

    One last thing…

If you find any other posts that really appeal to you, please feel free to leave a comment with a link provided to it on this post. If I agree with you that it’s really interesting, I’ll check it out, and probably write a post about it!

    - Aprilllll ;)

    Second Opinion!

    Howdy =)

Second post in one day =O. I’m on a roll =P. Haha. But I was just looking at the Second Opinion blog, and I read a few posts on it, which were really awesome. Then I thought about it…and he always has posts that you can leave your opinion on. I think that’s a really good idea. People can actually express themselves on his blog.

So I was just reading, and I found two posts that really got me thinking…

    Here were the questions:

    1) Should we tell children that there is a Santa?

    2) Should buses have seatbelts like any other vehicle?

Answer the questions in a comment, please. Credit to Second Opinion for them! He has so many other posts you can check out too, so have a look by clicking here.

    Aprilllllllll ;)
