The Oilers Lost!

Game 7 was played between the Edmonton Oilers and Carolina Hurricanes.

I watched the game, both teams played really well, but when the Oilers lost it made me really mad because I wanted the Oilers to win so badly, because they are a Canadian team! I am truly mad at Carolina.

Leave your opinions on the game in a comment.

School’s Almost Done!!

I’m really happy because school’s almost out!!

It’s Tuesday today. Tomorrow I go to school, and then on Thursday I am going to Thompson, just for the day for a dentist appointment and to get my contacts. I am quickly going to the school in the morning to find out if I am exempted from my exams. If I am, I don’t have to write exams, so I get an extra four days off! If I have to write exams, I go in for four more days. Then everyone gets one day off, and the next day is the award ceremony to get honors, merit, etc…whatever awards you get for the year. Then that’s the final day! Then it’s two whole months off for summer, and then the new school year begins…

Since I am in a grade seven and eight split, and I am going into grade eight next year, I get Mr. Fisher again. He’s pretty fun, so it’s all good :)

Can’t wait til the year is over…Can’t wait til summer!! :D

Finished My Chapbook

I finally finished my poety chapbook.

I completed it this morning. It has pictures, poems (obviously) and a title page. It has an introduction about me and the poems. I made it into the form of a book. It almost looks like a manual. You can do this on Microsoft Word. Just go to File, Page Setup, along the tabs at the top hit margin, and then hit landscape. When you are done that, go to Format, hit columns, and then hit two. Then you will find out how I set up my chapbook. All of the pictures were made by me, except for the one on the title page, which I printed off. I named my poetry chapbook “Not A Day Goes By.” This chapbook contains poem about pain.

Questions about the Network

Mr. Fisher assigned us some questions in computer class:

What have you learned by having a blog? How have you been part of a network of people? What have you learned from others? What have you contributed?

Here are my answers:

I have learned by having a blog that whatever you put on the internet, the whole world can read and you have to be very careful about the information you give away. I have learned more about the internet and how to write better. I have been part of a network of people because blogs are on the internet just like anything else, and that makes me part of the internet. Also, anyone can comment on my blog, so that makes me part of a network of people too. I have learned better ways to write from comments from other people all over the world. By looking at other people’s blogs, too, I have gained more skills and tips. I have contributed different ways of writing to other people and different ways of setting up blogs. I have given people tips on how they can write. They can learn ways to write by looking at my writing skills compared to theirs.

My Best Blog Posts of the Year

The year is almost done!

We have had two blogs, and we had to pick two blog posts that were our bests ones. It can be from our old or our new blog.

This blog post is about my grade seven and eight year near the beginning. It’s at my old blog.

The second post is about circle graphs, and there’s a question and how to do them included in the post too. It’s found at my new blog.

I think these posts are my best posts because they are very descriptive and they tell a lot about the subject. They have no spelling mistakes, and are very organized.

We might keep writing in our blogs, but we don’t have to. I’m not too sure what I’m going to do with mine…

Science Experiment

Hey, everyone!

We did a science experiment in science class today. I’ll try and explain it the best I can. Well, you see, Mr. Fisher put this white stuff in a tub (I can’t remember what it’s called right now) and we had to put a piece of board on the end of the tub. He gave us a waterbottle which we filled with water, and put two drops of blue food colouring in. There was a tube coming from the bottle. We had to put the bottle on the wood, and let the water leak into the tub. It had to fall two drops per second. We viewed the tests after 5 minutes, and then after another 5 minutes. We had to draw labelled diagrams when the two sets of 5 minutes were up.

The End Is Almost Here!

Yay!!!!!

School’s almost out and I’m really happy. :) Exams start on the 23rd, and we find out if we are exempted on the 22nd. I really hope I am exempted; I studied for those mid-terms, and trust me, exams are not fun to study for! Marks aren’t everything that determine if you are exempted. Sure, you may be super smart…but were you a jerk all year?

To get exempted here, all of your marks have to be 80 or above. If you get 79.5% in a subject, it rounds to 80, so you are exempted. But if you get 79.4%…it rounds to 79…and Mr. Fisher will not exempt you. I guess that’s pretty fair.

But what are we going to do about our blogs and all of the stuff we have online? Keep it? Get rid of it? On Mr. Fisher’s blog, you can leave a comment saying what you think. Please tell your opinion.

When exams are over, we have one day off. Then it’s the award ceremony, to get our honors, merit, etc. That’s on the 30th. Then it’s finally over.

Til next year, that is…

Poetry

In LA, we started writing poems.

It’s our last project in LA before exams start. Anyway, we had to pick a topic and write 12 - 15 poems about it. Once all of our poems are revised and editted, we pick about 6 of our best poems and make them into a poetry chapbook.

We have to write our poems in different forms; Mr. Fisher gave us a booklet showing a bunch of different ways to write a poem. He also gave us notes on different ways to write a poem, to include in types of poems…that’s a little confusing…so, for example, we could put a similie in a free-form poem.

This project is worth 50 marks…we have to do good on this one; it’s the last big one til the year’s end…

Captain Copyright ©

Copyright…

Copyright is something we should learn in school, or at least I think it is. It’s good to know what stuff is being protected, and what the concequences could be. Anyway…

We were in school today, and Mr. Fisher showed us a site called Captain Copyright. What do I think of it? Personally, I don’t like it. It has quite lame ways of showing us what copyright is. I mean…it has a comic about a boy, who makes a comic, and someone steals it and sells it in the hallways at school, saying he made it. The boy who really made it didn’t have copyright on it, though, so the other boy could sell it. That’s not a good way of showing copyright…or at least, I don’t think it is. There’s a lot more stuff on there, and it’s not really much of anything.
Copyright is something we should learn in school, and this site is a good idea…it just needs some work, and better ways to show copyright.

The games on it were fun, though. :)
