My Weekend

On Friday night, I went to the coffee house.

It started at 7:00 and ended around 9:30.  It was worth staying because there were a lot of good performers.  My  best friend Toni was in it, so me and my other best friend Hillary made signs for her, just like at a concert or Canadian Idol or something.  They were really awesome.  Then after the coffee house, me, Toni, Hillary, and Derek hung out for a while.

Saturday…

I went to the skateboard park near the trailor court with Toni, Hillary, and Derek. Toni had to leave around 3:00 because she had company coming over for supper and had to get ready.  So me, Hillary and Derek went to Derek’s house for a while.  Then, Hillary decided that she was sleeping over. So me and Hillary went to my house to drop off her stuff then we all went to the Youth Center.  Then me and Hillary went back to my house for the sleepover, and we were up til 5:00!

Sunday…

Hillary went home, and I played with my digital camera, only to find out that there was only a cord to hook it up to the TV and not the computer. That made me really mad because I wanted to put some really good pics on my computer for my website.  Then I hung out with Hillary uptown, but it was really cold out so we went to my house. Shortly after we got to my house, Derek came over too.  Then everyone went home.  I went on my computer for a little while, then I went to bed.

I had a really fun weekend!!

Pocasts/Vlogs #7

This is the final week of our podcasts and vlogs.

Me and Anna are doing our final episode on Exercise and Health. It’s going to be a vlog. Since you can walk a pet at home for exercise, we are hoping that I will be able to take my dog, Carmel, out for a run and get it on camera. I’m not sure what else we will be showing on the camera, but I guess you will all see when it goes on our site.

…those are the places you can check them out, if you’ve forgotten.

Now that we are basically done podcasting and vlogging, have any of you considered giving it a try? Have you ever watched/listened to vlogs/podcasts? And finally, do you like podcasts and vlogs, whether it be watching/listening to them or creating them.

Leave a comment on this post answering the questions…

Pocasts/Vlogs #6

Podcasting and Vlogging is finally coming to an end.

I didn’t mind it that much, but then again…I don’t mind that we’re stopping vlogging/pocasting very much either. But I guess that it was a good experience and I had fun working with Anna.

We finished our sixth podcast and then we’re working on our seventh soon. It’s going to be a vlog. But Anna won’t be here on Monday so I’ll have to find something to do. I can’t work on a script either for future posts…because our 7th episode is going to be our last!

Everyone out there reading this post? I say you should all try podcasting and vlogging! It’s pretty fun!

…but it can be fustrating, so before you try it, promise me you won’t send an axe through your computer. :D

The Week so far and Future Plans

I am a very busy person nowadays :D

The novel we started, “The Outsiders,” has some questions to go with it. They are due Monday…but so is another assignment we have to do for it. The other assignment is you can choose between 2 things…you can either do a portrait of 2 characters from the novel and take a quote from the book saying why you think they look like that, or you can do a character sketch for Ponyboy (main character) and 2 other characters of your choice, plus the greasers (gang in the novel.) I was a good girl and I did my questions. :) Haha…that’s because I didn’t want lots of homework. I might have the second assignment…who knows? I am choosing the character sketches. I was going to do the portrait assignment but I didn’t because I can’t draw to save my life :D
On Friday night, the Coffee House is here. That’s when people go on the stage to sing, or do something like play piano, guitar, etc…I didn’t go in it because I can’t sing or play instruments to save my life :D My best friend Toni is in it, though.
I am pretty busy…but that’s okay because I don’t have to study for my science test; we did it and got it back today…I got 88%. It was a REALLY hard test.
Well…I think I’m gonna head out now!

Podcasts/Vlogs #5

Heyy everyone! We are on week 5 in our podcasts and vlogs.

We discussed in class a lot about keeping the noise down while people were recording a podcast. People who weren’t recording had to whisper to their partner(s) while people who were recording could be loud to make a good podcast.

Anna and I did our fifth podcast on clothing. It took us a while to do because there was quite a bit of background noise. Also we had long lines so we sometimes messed up. But we got it done today.

If you want to check out these podcasts and vlogs, you can try two of the following sources:

or:

Go to http://www.archive.org and search for: joseph h kerr school. A list of not only our podcasts and vlogs will come up, but our math videos that we did in the past.

Enjoy….

Hillary & I’s Birthday Party!

Heyy all! Me and Hillary are both 13 now.

First of all, I got my hair done and Hillary stayed with me.  When that was done we went to Cornerview in the car with my mom, because she had to get a few things.  There we met up with Toni and her parents.  She got out of her truck and jumped in with us.  Then we quickly went to my house so I could dry and straighten my hair, then we went to the Willow.

We had supper there and then went to my house.  We opened our presents.  I got an iPod Video case from Toni for my iPod and I got $40 from Hillary.  Toni got Hillary some “Curious” by Britney Spears perfume and I gave her a stuffed animal…it was completely knitted and stuffed…it was adorable.  We gave Toni a stuffed Dora (she loves Dora the Explorer!) just because she is one of our best friends and she came to our party. Then us 3 went to the youth centre.

There was a lot of people there, but at around 10:30 people were leaving so it was just me, Hillary, Toni,  Derek, and Penny.  I was standing on this rolling stool and I said to Hill, “Give me a push!” so she kicked the stool…we both weren’t thinking! I went flying…I landed on my side on the concrete floor.  Now my side hurts, my elbow is scraped up, and me, being the dumb self I was, tried to break my fall by landing on my hand…not very intelligent.  I think I almost broke my wrist!! Haha…it hurt so bad but it was so funny!

Then everyone went home.  I went on the computer and then went to bed.  I had a REALLY fun night!!! I will never forget this memory.

Cloning & Ethical Considerations

In school we were given topics in Science and we had to choose one and do an essay on it.

I chose to do cloning. Obviously, we had to research our topic before we did an essay on it. So I was researching my topic at Wikipedia, and I got a lot of info from there. Info that made me think again about whether cloning should be allowed.

Cloning is the process of creating an identical copy of an original. There are a lot of bad things about cloning and there are a lot of good things. Things that could change human society completely. Many religious groups think that cloning is wrong. It is believed that an embryo is a human life, therefore using embryos for experimenting with cloning is murder. Roman Catholicism believes the embryo has a soul and cloning would be contrary to God’s will. The United Church of Canada believes that cloning, if done ethically, can help treat diseases and improve public health. Many believe that cloning is attempting to play God.

There are a number of advantages to cloning. There are medical breakthroughs – we may be able to cure diseases relating to the cells, for example, cancer. Through cloning, scientists could identify defective genes that causes conditions such as down’s syndrome, leukemia, and cancer. There could be more organ transplants – therapeutic cloning is when new organs are created. Think of all the possibilities for those people who need transplants and sometimes have to wait years, or never, to receive an organ. Extinct and endangered species of animals could be saved through experimenting with cloning. Childless couples could possibly be able to have their child through cloning.

At first, I thought cloning was no big deal and it should be ethically right. But after researching further, I now beg to differ. I am against cloning because it is like playing God. Cloning is changing all of that around. Also, couples with no children could be able to have kids, but not through cloning. I think people should adopt homeless children rather than clone them. Think of all the starving orphans in the world who need a home because they are unable to have one. People should consider the implications for society before they go ahead and start cloning. There are a lot of good things about cloning, yet there are also some terrible things.

After reading this post, what do you think? Is cloning right? Do you agree or disagree? Why? Just leave a comment and give your opinion on cloning.

Don’t be afraid to speak your mind!!

My Friday at School….

It’s finally Friday!!! Yay!!!

Well, first thing this morning, we had silent reading. I started a new book, since the one I was reading, Eldest, was boring, or in my opinion it was. The new book I started is called “Avalon High.” It’s by Meg Cabot. It’s a great book so far.

Then we worked on our podcasts and vlogs. Anna and I finished our 4th episode, then it was break. After break was gym, and then we worked on our podcasts and vlogs again after gym. Since Anna and I are done our 4th episode, we finished the script for our 5th one and did a practice recording for it. It is on Clothing, and it’s going to be a podcast.

Finally, we had lunch. After lunch we did a worksheet on the essays we are doing in Science. We did a Positive/Negative chart for 4 of the topics we were given to chose from. We had to write 2 positives and 2 negatives. After that we went to the lab to work on our Science Essays. Since the lab is full, me, Toni, Hillary, and Drew have to go to the upstairs lab…big kids lab!!! It was scary, but after a few days of being in there I’ve gotten use to it (I guess…still a little scared!!!)

Finally, we had break, and then we had a math test. It was on fractions, so it was easy for me; I get fractions.

Me and Hillary are also having a birthday party after school!! I am 13 years old today. Since our birthdays are so close together, we are having a combined party. Hillary’s birthday is on April 10th (Monday.) I am getting my hair highlighted, then we are going to supper at the Willow with Toni. We are then having cake at my house. Our cake has both me and Hillary’s name on it!! Toni will be joining us. Then us 3 girlies are going to the Youth Centre, a hang out place for teens in town.

I had a pretty good day today, but I am mostly excited for afterschool!! Semi formal is tomorrow. I CAN NOT WAIT!!! I AM SOO EXCITED!!!!!! :D

Fractions Math Test……….

I just finished writing a math test….

Not fun.  It wasn’t too bad though, since I get fractions. Chances are I will get my mark on Monday.  There was adding fractions, subracting fractions, problem solving, converting a mixed fraction to an improper fraction, and converting an improper fraction to a mixed fraction.  I found basically everything easy, but if I had to chose the hardest thing I would have to say the problem solving.  I have never been good at problem solving.  And I probably never will be.

It’s my birthday today…hmmm…a math test on my birthday? Thanks a lot Mr. Fisher!!!! :D
